Frequently asked questions

Every candle is made to order rather than pulled from a stockroom, so please allow 2 working days (Monday–Friday, excluding bank holidays) for us to pour and cure it before it ships. Once dispatched, UK delivery is typically 2–3 working days on top of that.

Not yet — we currently ship within the UK only. We'd like to expand this as we grow; sign up to the newsletter and we'll let you know if that changes.

Get in touch as soon as possible at hello@tempusandjubilo.com. Because everything is made to order, we can usually accommodate a change or cancellation if you catch us before we've started pouring — but we can't guarantee it once a batch is underway.

As with any open flame, keep lit candles out of reach and never leave one burning unattended. Our "Sweet Treat" style candles are designed to look like food and are not edible — please keep these away from anyone who might mistake them for something sweet.

Trim the wick to about 5mm before each light. The first burn matters most for how the candle behaves for the rest of its life: let it run long enough for the wax to melt fully out to the edges of the jar. As a rough guide, allow about an hour of burn time for every inch of the candle's diameter — so a 4-inch candle needs roughly 4 hours on that first light. If the wax doesn't melt all the way to the edges early on, it can leave a ring that the candle keeps tunnelling down from afterwards, wasting the wax around the sides. Keep away from drafts, avoid burning for more than about 4 hours at a stretch, and stop using a candle once around 1cm of wax remains.
